Rural Smile Foundation in collaboration with The Anchor Foundation , through their efforts to empower young boys and girls to become good future leaders, have initiated a debate competition amongst some selected schools in the Ejura/Sekyedumase District in Ghana 🇬🇭.

This is the first of a major debate competition to be organize for Junior High Schools in the District.

The aim is to Enhance Public Speaking, Increase Self-Esteem , Confidence of Pupils amongst other benefits.

Definition

According to the Oxford English Dictionary, debate is “a formal discussion on a particular matter in a public meeting or legislative assembly, in which opposing arguments are put forward and which usually ends with a vote.” (The Oxford English Dictionary, 3rd Edition, Edited by J. Simpson and E. Weiner. Clarendon Press, 2010).

Why Debate?

Debate is the activity that brings the art of reading, thinking and speaking together in one place.
Debate skills are essential to public life,Debate programs are transformational experiences for students.

Debate programs create leaders. Leading requires intelligence, vision, empathy, efficiency, and resolve. Participating in and studying debate cultivates these essential leadership skills in young women and men.

There will be lots of prizes for contestants.

3. Ihya-au-deen Islamic JHS
4. Ejura Model JHS
