2021 Independence Debate : Four(4) Schools to speak FOR and or AGAINST the Motion: “ Students Failure in Examination Should Be Blamed on Teachers “
Ghana 🇬🇭 on the 6th of March , 1957 became the first sub-Saharan country to gain independence from the British under the leadership of Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah .
Since then , Ghana 🇬🇭 has earmarked every 6th March of each year to celebrate in a grand style with some series of activities across the country including but not limited to military parades and school children matching past dignitaries.
As Ghana 🇬🇭 attained independence, through several struggles, it still faces some challenges. Efforts are been made to surmount such challenges.
It is in this regard that as part of our effort to promote Literacy in rural communities , the concept of INDEPENDENCE DEBATE competition was initiated by Rural Smile Foundation and The Anchor Foundation in 2020 together with other partners in the media including Naagyei FM ,90.3 , Today’s Radio, 101.7 , PrintHouse and MaxTv under the supervision of the Ghana 🇬🇭 Education Service at Ejura/Sekyedumase District.
Some of The benefits of debating to Students include but not limited:
1.Improved critical thinking skills
2.Pupils acquire better poise, speech delivery, and public speaking skills
3. Increased student retention of information learned
4. Improved listening note-taking skills and increased self-confidence
5. More confidence to stand up for the truth when a discussion is promoting falsehoods or inaccuracies
6. Helping students better structure their thought
7. Enhanced teamwork skills and collaboration
In this years competition, four (4) schools namely:
1. IHYA-AU-DEEN ISLAMIC JHS
2. EJURAMAN EDUCATIONAL COMPLEX
3. ROMAN CATHOLIC JHS
4. HARAMAIN ISLAMIC JHS
are to compete and speak FOR and or AGAINST the Motion “ Students Failure in Examination Should Be Blamed on Teachers “ that is supposed to be the 2ND Edition at 9am on Tuesday,9th March ,2021 with venue as Ejura Methodist Church ⛪️.
Various prizes will be given to deserving participants.
